Hi, I’m Claire.
Represented by Analog Football.
I'm Claire. Freelance sports photographer and graphic designer based in Columbus, Ohio. I spend my days building broadcast graphics with CBS Sports for UEFA, NCAA, NWSL, and the NFL and my evenings on the sidelines of the Columbus Crew stadium. I've spent four seasons with the Columbus Crew as a freelance photographer, my ongoing relationship with the club has continued to make me a better photographer, and a better storyteller. I’ve gotten to know these players, how they move, and the story the club shares. Through those relationships I’ve been able to work with Leagues Cup in 2024 and have worked with Charlotte FC, Colorado Rapids, Vanderbilt Athletics, and more.
Having experience in both design and photography has given me fluency in how a moment is captured, and how that moment reaches an audience. Each informs the other. I’m a better designer because I take photos, and I’m a better photographer because I design.
I shoot because I love this sport.
Soccer is a melting pot and I've been enamored with that since the first time I touched a ball. Different countries, different stories, different relationships to the same game. I love people and I love what this sport unlocks in them. I love what it's unlocked in me. It's taught me some of the most important life lessons. It’s given me lifelong friendships. It's taught me the beauty in the small things and what can be found in simple human connection, a clip of an amazing goal, an "oh my god that's my favorite team too." It’s brought me some of the best joys in my life and it’s taught me how the handle the hardest moments.
My works represents how I see the game, what I think about, how I observe. My goal is that you can see what I see.
You can see more of my thoughts on my “Field Notes” section at the top.
My Approach
I'm a storyteller first. I've always been drawn to what lives between the lines, in a book, on a pitch, in the face of someone who thinks nobody is watching. I didn't grow up obsessed with cameras. I grew up obsessed with the game, with people, with wanting to understand what makes things work and why. The camera just turned out to be the best vessel for showing what I see. Same goes for design. Two different tools, the same obsession with finding the thing most people walk past without noticing. Whether I'm building a tune-in graphic or shooting from the sideline, I'm always asking the same question, what is this really saying, and how do I show that?
Show Up Curious
Every shoot is a chapter. Whether it's one match or an entire season I show up invested in the story of that moment, the emotion on the sideline, the tension in a game, the history behind a kit, what the details actually mean. I want to know the club, the culture, the context. That's not extra work to me. That's the whole point.
Make It Count
I am communicative and I take that seriously. Before we shoot I want to understand what you're building and why. I'll share my ideas early and openly and I genuinely want to collaborate because the best work I've ever made came from combining different perspectives and just seeing what happens. Show up, work hard, make something worth keeping. That's how I operate.
